revid: (AI Adam GNT)
A number of peeps on my flist are going to make an effort to post everyday in the month of August, so I'm going to attempt to do the same.

I saw the amazing Adam Lambert in concert three times last week. I started to write up the usual long-winded recap, but realized that long-winded ≠ good, necessarily. So instead of the blow-by-blow, I'll go more conceptual.

He was here in SF at the beautiful Warfield Theatre on Friday the 23rd, then I drove to Thunder Valley Casino just north of Sacramento on Saturday, then returned home for a final show at the Warfield on Sunday. Along the way, I met up with some lovely women from an Adam message board I frequent, and on Sunday I dragged my longtime flisties [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and [livejournal.com profile] _somniac_ with me. A good time was had by all. :-)

Through the miracle of YouTube, I knew what to expect from the show, but YT does not do Adam justice. Like Madonna, Adam is a performer to the core; he was born to be on a stage. Where he differs from many performers however, is THE VOICE. His vocal talent is unreal. He sings better live that most people can sing in the studio, ProTools and all.

The combination of the performer and the voice pretty much kept me staring at the stage with a shit-eating grin on my face for the entirety of all three shows. I said this after I saw him on NYE in LA, but it's true: charisma just pours off of Adam in waves. Charisma and sex, that is. Boyfriend is hotter than fuck, and he knows it. There are a whole lotta husbands and boyfriends that got lucky after those shows. :-)

The best show was the second night at the Warfield. It's hard to explain why, because the setlist was the same and the venue was the same, and the performance was the same, but there was something special in the air about it. I suppose since the only variable was the audience, it must have been us! At the risk of killing you with purple prose, it was like there was a feedback loop of energy between the audience and Adam, in the intimate confines of one of the best concert venues anywhere, and the result was "OMG, this is fucking amazing!" I wish I could be more articulate about it, but I'm not feeling very eloquent tonight. But seriously, it was one of the Top 4 best concerts I have been to in my life. (In chronological order, because there is no way I could rank them: 1975 Led Zeppelin, Los Angeles, CA; 1996 Counting Crows, Jones Beach, NY; 2009 Green Day (Uptown Club), Oakland, CA; 2010 Adam Lambert, San Francisco, CA)

So, I'm sorry [livejournal.com profile] and_ed, this post isn't very sparkly, but I need to conserve my energy for posting the rest of this month. Anyone else want to jump in on our "post everyday in August" meme, please do!

Also, if you get the chance, go see Adam Lambert live. No, seriously. Do it. :-)

He leaves nothing on the table in "Sleepwalker," especially at the end. (Song starts at 1:20 if the dancers bore you.)

So my boy Adam is playing the Warfield in July on his GlamNation tour. THE WARFIELD!! THE WARFIELD!! One of the most awesome venues in the Bay Area to see a show.

Pre-sale tix go on sale this Wednesday at 10AM. I'm having flash backs to almost 5 years ago when Green Day announced that they were playing a show at the 2200 capacity Warfield, this after playing the Oracle Arena in Oakland (15K) and two nights at the Home Depot Center in LA (at least 15K) in the previous 2 weeks. I sat in front of my computer and hit the button at exactly 10 AM and for the next 45 minutes, nada. :-(

This was before I had discovered LJ and all you wonderful people, so I was all alone in my fandom and love of Green Day, *sniff sniff* Knowing what I know now, I would have headed up to SF and hung around the box office and probably would have gotten in, but I was a fangirl babe in the woods in those days. Gosh, that seems so long ago. Still think of that day and that show every time I head down Market Street and 6th and pass the Warfield.

So wish me luck this Wednesday at 10am...don't call or ping me because I won't answer. :-)

And just to make this post pretty:

Well, I reuploaded these recently, so I might as well share with anyone who missed them the first time around.

Green Day did a "secret" show at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco California on 13 October 2005, and some wonderful person recorded it for the rest of us to enjoy!

In an unrelated note, I listened to American Idiot this morning, really listened to it. And over a year and a half after its release, it still blows. me. away. Fucking Amazing.

Ooooh, my first friends-locked post. I guess that's a milestone, since it implies that I have enough friends to lock a post to!

In the spirit of music sharing rolling around my f-list, I present the best Green Day audio bootleg ever!!! I'm so excited I get to share this.

Even better than the CBGB gig... )
