More Music To Share....
Feb. 28th, 2006 12:44 pmOoooh, my first friends-locked post. I guess that's a milestone, since it implies that I have enough friends to lock a post to!
In the spirit of music sharing rolling around my f-list, I present the best Green Day audio bootleg ever!!! I'm so excited I get to share this.
I got my hands on a bootleg audio recording of the Green Day show at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA on 13 October 2005. This was one of the two "secret" club shows that Green Day did at the end of the AI tour last year. The other show was at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, which was broadcast live on AOL. The boys were in rare form that night, in one of their we're gonna play 'till they kick up out moods. Here is the set list (Thanks,
_somniac_)

This is a 3-CD set. The quality is excellent for an audience recording. The audio files are in flac format, which is a high quality lossless format. For Mac users, they can be played and burned to audio CD by Toast, or just played by VLC. PC users can also play them with VLC. I'm not much help with what to use to burn this to disc with on a PC, but this link from the flac website should be helpful.
The guy who got this requested that it NOT be shared in mp3 or other lossy formats. You are, of course, free to convert to mp3 or AAC for your own use, but when you share the files, you should share the flac originals as well, and please don't post any public d/l links of this recording in mp3. Thank you for honoring this request.
Anyone of you talented folks want to make up some CD cover art for these? Pretty please? :-)
Disc 1: AI through Homecoming: http://www.sendspace.com/file/sgvvip (Warfield#1)
Disc 2: Whatshername through Basket Case: http://www.sendspace.com/file/cso7hp (Warfield #2)
Disc 3: Blitzkrieg Bop through I Fought the Law (reprise): http://www.sendspace.com/file/6rv526 (Warfield #3)
I locked this post to give my f-list first shot at the links before they expire or die. Feel free to share them in a few days, but please pass along my request about mp3s to anyone you share the links with. Thanks.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
Edited to add: I also got a specific request NOT to post this on GDA, so, OK.

Date: 2006-02-28 11:12 pm (UTC)I find the easiest way to do it is to burn the audio disc, then use iTunes to convert from the audio disc to mp3/aac.
Did you check that d/l link in thee post?

Date: 2006-03-01 08:12 pm (UTC)Well, our dear friend
I was sitting on my computer at 9:59 when the tickets went on sale, and spent the next two days wearing out my fingers trying to get tickets, to no avail. Still breaks my heart!

Date: 2006-03-02 09:08 pm (UTC)If you wouldn't mind, could you wait a week or two before posting it to your f-list? There's this silly little pissing contest going on between gDLo http://gdlo.serveftp.net (where I got this) and GDA about posting stuff obtained originally by gDLo. I only partially understand it, since anyone who's smart enough to figure out how to use bittorrent can register at gDLo and get it themselves, but to be frank, most of the 13 yo at GDA aren't smart enough.
My feeling is that once those bits are on the internet, the cat's out of the bag, and eventually it will become widely available, and you can't stop it. But the guy that posted this is real sensitive about it right now, and I know at least a couple of your friends are GDA regulars (yeah, I looked...honest, I'm not a stalker!), including the woman who was the video forum mod.
My name here is different than the one I use on GDA and gDLo, so it's unlikely to get traced back to me, but I don't want to get in the middle of this silliness. So, sorry to be so long winded, but if you would wait a week or two before posting to the f-list, that would be great.
Thanks!

Date: 2006-03-03 03:19 am (UTC)Heh, it ain't just the young teens who have bittorrent issues. I joined gDLo and went through setting up my router, but could only get incoming, and didn't manage to get it fixed to also allow outgoing (required there as you know) before finding out that w/e I was doing allowed my mom's network adapter - she piggybacks on my 'net connection - to glom onto the neighbour's cable signal instead of *mine*, and after 3 hours on the phone with tech assist getting it sorted out I never bothered trying to go back to gDLo LOLOL.

Date: 2006-03-03 04:56 am (UTC)The tempest in a teapot should die down quickly. Like I said, the bootleg trading world has been forever changed by the internet, and the days of keeping "the good stuff" to yourself is ending. (This is a good thing.) I imagine a week will be enough.
Thanks for being so understanding dear!
