Wow, yesterday was my 6th year LJ anniversary! I obviously don't take the old girl out for a spin the way I used to, but I can't ever imagine abandoning her forever. After all, LJ is responsible for about 2/3 of my real life best friends! I can't forget that.

December was my SEVENTH anniversary of falling in love with Green Day and discovering that magical place known as fandom. I still love you guys, you are the band of my heart forever! (God that sounds ridic, but it's TRUE!)

Today is the 68th bday of the first musician I ever stanned, even though that word hadn't been invented. Happy Birthday to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin! You changed my life when I was 15 years old, honest to god, and the repercussions are still here.

And finally, next month is the third anniversary of the first time I ever heard this guy sing on this tacky reality TV show and stood up and said "Who the fuck is that? He sings like Robert Plant!" Adam Lambert's new single is out this month, his album is out in March, and he'll be doing Leno and Ellen on TV next week. I am as excited about hearing him sing now as I was three years ago. I honestly remember being glad that the finale of AI was coming up in May 2009, because I thought I would get my life back. Nope, didn't work out that way!

This has been your fandom update! LOLOLOL

Oh hai LJ hai!

You remember me! Right?

I still check my flist every day or so, but I've been a big fat lazy ass about posting.

So here, let's start with some silly personal stuff:

I ran in the 100th running of the San Francisco Bay to Breakers on Sunday. It's one of the largest footraces in the world. This year they allowed 50,000 entries. My START time was approximately 30 minutes after the winner CROSSED THE FINISH LINE! And there were still probably 10K people after me! It's a 12k (7.46 miles) that starts downtown (Bay) and ends at the Pacific Ocean (Breakers). In past years it's been a total drunk and cray fest, but they started cracking down on that recently. Pretty sure the bars that were open and doing banner business along the route aren't usually open at 7am on Sunday, though!

I use the word "run" loosely. I actually walked most of it, finishing in just under 2 hours. Mostly I enjoyed looking at the costumes or lack thereof. Saw a lot of schlong...lost count at a dozen, but only 2 pair of boobs...sexist! LOL My favorite was a bunch of people near the start of the race who were going in the wrong direction. Then I figured out the costumes were fish...then I realized they were salmon, swimming upstream. I laughed out loud!

The other nice thing about the race is that I live only about 1.5 miles from the finish line so it's an easy walk home too. (I took the Muni to the start line.) So here's the proof of the proof that I really did it. :-)

hidden to protect me from ridicule! )

I even eeked out a smile, but I'm one sore mofo today...I didn't really train.

~~~
I'm pretty active on twitter berting all about Adam Lambert. (Yes, there is a verb "to bert" meaning to fangirl or squee over...don't judge!) I still listen to his music and love the hell out of his voice, and follow his comings and goings perhaps a little too closely. He's still adorable. In a story that sounds like bad fanfic, he met a guy that was a reality TV star in Finland (won Finnish Big Brother in 2007) the one night he was in Helsinki for a show in November and basically had what was supposed to be a one night stand, except that now six months later, the guy is leaving his country, family, friends and life to move to LA to be with Adam. Yeah, I'm a sucker for romance. :-)
They're very cute )
Feel free to follow me on twitter http://www.twitter.com/revid99, but only if you don't mind hearing about Adam. LOL
Say hi flist! What's up with you?
A Very Very Happy Birthday to one of our finest stalkers researchers, [livejournal.com profile] loser_and_user!!!!!
Hope you have a wonderful day doing whatever you're doing!!!!!! :-)
  • Got 2 out of 3 on American Idol last night. Still terribly unenthused. And I can't believe they brought back batshit Tatiana for the wildcard round. Actually I can. They brought here back for the lulz that will happen tomorrow night when she's eliminated again. *yawn*
  • Ashley ([livejournal.com profile] colorthenight) has been kind enough to post some actual dailies that she obtained (under mysterious circumstances :-) ) from the filming of QaF. She mentioned that she was posting them because it's so much more fun to squee with other fans. I feel the need to repeat my comment to that in my own LJ because it (and, by extension, I) are just so awesome like that:
    Fandom squee is like sex. You can make do alone, but it's so much better with someone else.
    And that's why we have LiveJournal.
  • Wow. That's all I've got for today. Time for bed.
    I've been sucking (to say the least) at LJ recently, so I've decided to try something different. In the spirit of NaNoWriMo, I am declaring March to be National LiveJournal Writing Month, where National is understood to mean... me. My goal is to make an entry every single day in the month of March.
    I have no great plans for this. My posts will probably consist of whatever I happen to be thinking at the moment my fingers hit the keyboard. So while you shouldn't expect any deep Susan Sontag style essays, I will try to make them a bit more than "Here is my entry for today." (Although if it ever comes to that, I promise to at least post a picture of a gorgeous guy so it won't be a total waste of bandwidth.)
    Today was a pleasant do-nothing day. My RE agent held an open house for a few hours while I went down to the beach and read Harry Potter #2...in espaƱol. It's taking a lot longer than English did! It may have been snowing in the deep south today, but here it was sunny and mild. It's a pain having a house for sale though. Nothing much (still) going on with that.
    For this evening, I'm going to get everything ready to do my taxes tomorrow. GRRRRRRRR.
    Hope everyone else has a better day planned for tomorrow. :-)
    One down, thirty to go.
    Already...
    So, it's 21 September 2008.
    Four years since the release of Green Day's American Idiot, an album which I can honestly say changed my life in most unexpected and wonderful ways.
    It's also the start of what I call in my mind Anniversary Season.
  • 21 September -- The release of American Idiot (2004)
  • 1 October -- The first time I saw Green Day in concert (2005)
  • 10 October -- The first time I met Green Day (with [livejournal.com profile] mikeyface) (2006)
  • 9 December -- BOBD on The Tonight Show: The day my obsession with the band started (2004)
  • 8 January -- The day I signed up for a LiveJournal (2006)
  • In the words of Jerry Garcia: What a long, strange trip it's been. And I wouldn't change it for all the money in the world.
    First, I was just enjoying reading _comingclean_. Then I thought, well, maybe I could try writing something. Then I realized that I had to join LiveJournal to post it. Well, OK, I'll set it up, but I don't have to use it. Then I posted my story, and thought it would be a one time deal; I'd never post again. Then, damn!---people actually read it, and said nice things about it.....and wanted to be my friend! :-)
    And now a total of 4 fricken' days later, I'm making a journal entry, and have three different story plots swirling around my head.
    Jeez, why didn't anyone warn me?
    Hello!
    I joined Live Journal for the sole purpose of posting Green Day slash fiction in the _comingclean_ community. I don't expect to be making many entries, but it seems I should at least make an introductory entry.
    Obviously, I'm a Green Day fan, and I'm rather having fun with the slash fiction concept. I have not written fiction in years, so I'm shaking off some rust. Nor will I be as prolific as some of the people in the community, but I will be reading everybody elses stuff.
    I'm still figuring out the LJ "culture" so if I make any gaffes, clue me in!
