NaLiJoWriMo
Mar. 1st, 2009 05:51 pmI've been sucking (to say the least) at LJ recently, so I've decided to try something different. In the spirit of NaNoWriMo, I am declaring March to be National LiveJournal Writing Month, where National is understood to mean... me. My goal is to make an entry every single day in the month of March.
I have no great plans for this. My posts will probably consist of whatever I happen to be thinking at the moment my fingers hit the keyboard. So while you shouldn't expect any deep Susan Sontag style essays, I will try to make them a bit more than "Here is my entry for today." (Although if it ever comes to that, I promise to at least post a picture of a gorgeous guy so it won't be a total waste of bandwidth.)
Today was a pleasant do-nothing day. My RE agent held an open house for a few hours while I went down to the beach and read Harry Potter #2...in espaƱol. It's taking a lot longer than English did! It may have been snowing in the deep south today, but here it was sunny and mild. It's a pain having a house for sale though. Nothing much (still) going on with that.
For this evening, I'm going to get everything ready to do my taxes tomorrow. GRRRRRRRR.
Hope everyone else has a better day planned for tomorrow. :-)
One down, thirty to go.

Date: 2009-03-02 06:13 am (UTC)And randomly...my first' thought on reading this post was that scene from Bull Durham...Kevin Costners famous "I believe..." speech, in which he professes that "...the novels of Susan Sontag are self indulgent overrated shit..."
You gotta wonder what important piece of information that quote is replacing in my brain, huh?

Date: 2009-03-03 03:50 am (UTC)Oooohhh...good for you! I don't know if I could do that, but if you can make it seem feasible and relatively painless (!) maybe I'd give it a try. For like a week or something to start. I need that kind of push because I have some inherent laziness in me.
Also, sorry to hear about the pain in the ass that is the house sale thing still. Crossing fingers for you - it's just a sucky time for that stuff.
And because I'm curious, I remember you mentioning the Spanish thing before. How did you come to learn Spanish well enough to make it all the way through Harry Potter? Do you take it in school, the same way we take French in Canada? Although we are "officially" bilingual so that makes more sense. Just curious...

Date: 2009-03-03 04:51 am (UTC)I took a college level Spanish class about 7 or 8 years ago, but about 8 months ago, I finally got serious about it with a home study course. Now if only I could speak and understand as well as I can read and write it!
