Well, I never would have believed it...
Mar. 31st, 2012 09:08 amI finally met Adam Lambert! Well, I didn't really meet him so much as got pushed next to him for a 15 sec photo op, but hey, it's better that nothing!
Adam's been doing a radio promo tour this whole month, and of course, he hit 3 radio stations here in SF on Wednesday. Now for 3 years, I've known that the station I listen to does Meet and Greets and performances, and I've also known that you can often buy your way in using points from their rewards club. So for the past few months I've been whoring out my eyes and personal information to Radio Alice, clicking on their links and answering their trivia questions. And lo and behold, I guessed right. They offered up a short performance with Adam in a local club from noon to two and I could buy my way in for 50,000 points! So I did! As my plus one I invited my friend and fellow 'bert' Lisa, whom I first met when I answered her post offering a ticket for sale to Adam's show at the Warfield almost two years ago! I had also entered to win admission to a M&G and performance from another local station that same evening, but didn't get in. Then on Monday, Lisa got the email from them, telling her she was in, so she invited me to be her plus one!
The first show had about 200 people and there wasn't a M&G, just the performance, but Adam looked and sounded great. I was also really stoked to meet a couple of the DJs from the station, just to tell them how much I enjoyed listening to them. Afterwards a bunch of us went out to lunch, then we headed to a bar to meet up with a friend of Lisa's who was also going to the evening M&G, which was at six. The second one was much smaller, maybe 60 people, and I had a much better view. Once again, Adam did 3 songs and answered a few questions. He looked tired, but basically relaxed and comfortable. After that was over, they lined us up for the photos.
I have no recollection of what I said to him; I'm hoping it wasn't too stupid. Of course, I look like ass in the picture, but oh well. Next goal is to actually meet him in a setting where I can have a short conversation with him, but frankly, on the other hand, if that never happens I'll be OK with it. The fourth wall is a good thing, I've decided.
The bottom line is that I love the man's voice and love to hear him sing and as long as I get to listen to him do that, I'm good!

Never Close Our Eyes, off the new album being released (FINALLY) on May 15th.
He's so cool!

Mar. 17th, 2012 04:58 pmErin Go Bragh! and Cead Mille Failte! and all that!
It also happens to be my cats' 15th birthday, so Happy Birthday Pumpkin and Skitty, you little lovable PITAs.

Adam's album was supposed to be released this Tuesday, but it's been delayed because heis a giant cocktease got some new songs last minute that he wanted to to record. He has been performing the title track "Trespassing" occasionally on his radio promo tour, and recently did a really awesome version in London. It was co-written and produced by Pharrell. I don't know how someone can make me LOL, UNF, and AWWWWWW at the same time, but he's such a sexy, precious dork.
Keep your fingers crossed for me-- Adam's doing radio promo here on the 28th, so I'm doing my best to win tix to a couple of Meet&Greets.
Green Day is in the studio working on their 9th(!!!) studio album. They've been putting out little videos on their YT channel. They all look great! Billie Joe said in an interview that this was the first time they're making a record about fucking, which made me laugh out loud. Really, Billie? You can say that with a straight face?

Still doing my fitness bootcamp 4 times a week. It's been 5 months now, so the improvements are noticeable. Next step is to lose some weight, but my motivation for that is nowhere to be found. :-(
I remembered that I never did post about my trip to Europe! It was short and sweet. Most of it was spent in Dordrecht, NL with my friend, but we went to Antwerp one day, and Paris for a weekend by high-speed train. I had never been, so it was really cool. We did a lot of walking and caught all the big sights. A "proof" shot:

Classic Northern European weather, as you can tell, but of course, it means the crowds are small. Fine by me!
Some friends of
sick_of_me03 (who is staying with me for a little while) are having a party tonight, so I'm off to run a bit on the TM, then get ready to go party in honor of my heritage.
Hope you're all wearing green!

"I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display."
Day tix are ~$135. Airfare from SF to Heathrow? $1500
Happy LJVersary to me!
Jan. 9th, 2012 07:03 pmWow, yesterday was my 6th year LJ anniversary! I obviously don't take the old girl out for a spin the way I used to, but I can't ever imagine abandoning her forever. After all, LJ is responsible for about 2/3 of my real life best friends! I can't forget that.
December was my SEVENTH anniversary of falling in love with Green Day and discovering that magical place known as fandom. I still love you guys, you are the band of my heart forever! (God that sounds ridic, but it's TRUE!)
Today is the 68th bday of the first musician I ever stanned, even though that word hadn't been invented. Happy Birthday to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin! You changed my life when I was 15 years old, honest to god, and the repercussions are still here.
And finally, next month is the third anniversary of the first time I ever heard this guy sing on this tacky reality TV show and stood up and said "Who the fuck is that? He sings like Robert Plant!" Adam Lambert's new single is out this month, his album is out in March, and he'll be doing Leno and Ellen on TV next week. I am as excited about hearing him sing now as I was three years ago. I honestly remember being glad that the finale of AI was coming up in May 2009, because I thought I would get my life back. Nope, didn't work out that way!
This has been your fandom update! LOLOLOL

Stressful fandom day Wednesday. My boo, Adam, and his boyfriend spent about 8 hours detained in a Helsinki police station yesterday.
( cut for no1curr rambley herd of tl;dr )
Anyhoo, short version is that nothing came of it but embarrassment, and a whole lotta fandom angst. And oh yeah, Perez Hilton is still pissed that Adam wouldn't fuck him, so he keeps posting shit like Adam is an alcoholic domestic abuser. DIAF Perez. Slowly and painfully.
The happy news is that there is still some nice buzz about Adam's new single, even though it won't be officially released to radio until next month. My local station is actually playing it once or twice a day. *\o/*
In case you missed it ;-) :
Better Than I Know Myself by adamofficial
RL is pretty much the same. I've been going to a Fitness Boot Camp 4 days a week for 10 weeks now, and while it still continues to kick my sorry old fat ass, I am seeing definite improvements. Next step is to work on the diet so I can actually drop some weight. I don't know who those people are who say the weight just falls away from working out, but I ain't one of them!
I'm working Xmas and pretty much the whole week, but I'm taking a week off in January to visit my friend Christine in The Netherlands, so I'm excited about that.
Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah to those of you who celebrate, and Happy New Year to you all!

Dec. 16th, 2011 03:28 pmWooHoo. Adam's new single "Better Than I Know Myself" leaked, and the crack team at RCA decided you can't hold back the tide and started streaming it!
Better Than I Know Myself by adamofficial
It's definitely in the "Whataya Want From Me" vein, but it's more of an ear worm, and it totally grows on you with repeated listenings. (Which I may have done once or twice...ahem.) But damn, I just still love the sound of his voice!

Nov. 6th, 2011 05:22 pmOmgOmgOmg you guys! The MTV EMAs were today in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The "Global Icon" Award was presented to Queen, and they closed out the show with a medley of "The Show Must Go On," "We Will Rock You," and "We Are the Champions." And do you know who their lead singer was, dear flist, standing in for Freddie Mercury? Of course,
IT WAS ADAM LAMBERT...AND HE WAS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! Watch watch watch!
I love him guys, I really, really do. <3___<3
(The EMAs are the best awards show on TV -- remember how awesome Green Day was six(!) years ago?)

Adam is on the cover of The Advocate this month with a really sweet little piece: http://news.advocate.com/post/11571958893/reinventing-adam-lambert
Sadly, someone went a little overboard with the photoshop on the cover, making him look like a Twilight reject, but there's a couple FINE pics too.

Look, I know he's not everyone's cuppa, but seriously, how can peeps say he's not good looking?
Still jonesing for him to hurry the fuck up and release a single, hopefully in the next couple weeks.
Speaking of Twilight, I read that Robert Pattinson is being looked at for the lead in the American Idiot movie. Sorry Billie Joe, DNW.
Saw Foster the People twice last week at the Fillmore, once from the front row and once from the back row. I've seen them on TV 3 or 4 times, and live 3 times, and it's like night and day. After the SNL performance one wag on Twitter said they looked like the High School AV club formed a band, and he was right. But live, Mark Foster loses the deer-in-the-headlight look that he has on tv, and the show was so freaking much fun! When I was in the front row I was next to this couple that must have been 21 or 22, and they were so impressed that an old lady like me was still rocking out! It was sort of cute, he was like "wow, I'm going to remember how awesome you are when I'm your age!" LOL Anyway, love FtP a lot live. I can see me for a second when Mark climbs up on the speaker at the end of the song.
I started the Fitness Boot camp last week, and as anticipated, IT IS KICKING MY ASS. I'm definitely the slowest and fattest in the group, but it's been motivating rather than demoralizing, thank Ra. Push ups, sit ups, lunges, running, sprints, you name it. It's a lot more fun doing it in various locations in Golden Gate Park, than in a gym. I fully expect the pain to be worth it. After all, what does not kill me makes me stronger. Uh, right?
Last but not least, I am jumping up and down with excitement that the lovely
and_ed will be arriving tomorrow afternoon for 5 days filled with music (The Foo Fighters!), food (courtesy of Barb!), and wine ('nuff said!) We'll also do the tourist thing and hit the GG Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Amoeba Records. BTW, if any of you watch Supernatural or Hawaii 5-0, you should head over to Barb's LJ at http://and-ed.livejournal.com and read her hilarious and insightful recaps of the episodes. I don't even watch the shows and I enjoy reading them!
Till next time...

hai lj hai!
Oct. 7th, 2011 07:03 pmNo matter how far I roam...I will always come back to LJ, and I will always love Green Day.
Just putting that out there.
We're gearing up for another round...secret shows and new songs on the way. I even shelled out the $25 (or whatever...I've already forgotten!) to rejoin the Idiot Club, because, damn, now that I live here, I don't want to miss the next secret shows. C'mon, guys, have one on my day off this time.
So, I'm REALLY excited for this: Billie Joe is going to be in a 2 episode arc on the cable TV show "Nurse Jackie." I saw it on the IC, but Perez Hilton posted about it today. http://perezhilton.com/2011-10-07-billie-joe-armstrong-cast-on-nurse-jackie#.To-goutmtsY
Someone in the comments has some casting information:
[JOHN] (Male, 45) He is a badass, has a tattoo that says 'No Regrets' on his hand, and is a drug user addicted to Oxycontin who meets Jackie one night. He is chasing after the ultimate high. He has kids and a wife who don't talk to him anymore.
Billie's going to hit the big 4-0 in about 4 months, but I'm sure he'll manage to look the part!
Working full time nights is tough on a body, but I'm taking steps to combat it. I signed up for a fitness boot camp starting Monday. Getting started back on the road to fitness is always the hard part, so this should by the kick in the ass I need. Kill me now. /o\
Volunteering for RockMed keeps me busy, but it has its advantages. These are the bands I have seen or will see shortly in a 30 day period:
Don Henley
Jimmy Eat World
Robert Plant
Fitz and the Tantrums
blink-182
My Chemical Romance (Angie, if you're reading this, they were GREAT. Best I've seen them.)
Stevie Nicks
Foster the People
Foo Fighters (More on this to come...)
Neil Young and the Bridge School Benefit
Oh yeah, about the Foo Fighters. I am almost wetting my pants with excitement because the one and only
and_ed is coming down from the great white north to visit MEEEEE and go see the Foos with MEEEEE on October 19th. And of course, we will hit some tourist spots including Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe! And Barb is gonna cook for me. My poor stainless steel appliances won't know what hit them. And she's probably gonna make me watch Hawaii 5-0 while she's here too.
Also, if you like indie pop-rock, may I suggest you check out Foster the People? They are awesome. Someone uploaded their CD on YT if you want to listen: http://youtu.be/Fvq7VMcifKk
In other fandom news, my obsession with Adam Lambert appears to have the staying power of my obsession with Green Day! o_0 It's going on 3 years now. For those of you who don't follow his every tweet with bated breath, his second album will probably be out in Jan or Feb 2012, but he may have a single out as early as next month. (IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME DUDE!) He remains as adorable and presh as usual, especially with his equally adorablehot Finnish twink of a boyfriend. q.v.:

May. 17th, 2011 12:16 amOh hai LJ hai!
You remember me! Right?
I still check my flist every day or so, but I've been a big fat lazy ass about posting.
So here, let's start with some silly personal stuff:
I ran in the 100th running of the San Francisco Bay to Breakers on Sunday. It's one of the largest footraces in the world. This year they allowed 50,000 entries. My START time was approximately 30 minutes after the winner CROSSED THE FINISH LINE! And there were still probably 10K people after me! It's a 12k (7.46 miles) that starts downtown (Bay) and ends at the Pacific Ocean (Breakers). In past years it's been a total drunk and cray fest, but they started cracking down on that recently. Pretty sure the bars that were open and doing banner business along the route aren't usually open at 7am on Sunday, though!
I use the word "run" loosely. I actually walked most of it, finishing in just under 2 hours. Mostly I enjoyed looking at the costumes or lack thereof. Saw a lot of schlong...lost count at a dozen, but only 2 pair of boobs...sexist! LOL My favorite was a bunch of people near the start of the race who were going in the wrong direction. Then I figured out the costumes were fish...then I realized they were salmon, swimming upstream. I laughed out loud!
The other nice thing about the race is that I live only about 1.5 miles from the finish line so it's an easy walk home too. (I took the Muni to the start line.) So here's the proof of the proof that I really did it. :-)
( hidden to protect me from ridicule! )
I even eeked out a smile, but I'm one sore mofo today...I didn't really train.
~~~
I'm pretty active on twitter berting all about Adam Lambert. (Yes, there is a verb "to bert" meaning to fangirl or squee over...don't judge!) I still listen to his music and love the hell out of his voice, and follow his comings and goingsperhaps a little too closely. He's still adorable. In a story that sounds like bad fanfic, he met a guy that was a reality TV star in Finland (won Finnish Big Brother in 2007) the one night he was in Helsinki for a show in November and basically had what was supposed to be a one night stand, except that now six months later, the guy is leaving his country, family, friends and life to move to LA to be with Adam. Yeah, I'm a sucker for romance. :-)
( They're very cute )
Feel free to follow me on twitter http://www.twitter.com/revid99, but only if you don't mind hearing about Adam. LOL
Say hi flist! What's up with you?
A RuPaul's Drag Race watch party at a gay bar in the Tenderloin, with a guest appearance by Raja, who also happens to be Adam Lambert's make-up artist.
Variety is the spice of life.
In one of the fun coincidences of life, both Green Day and Adam Lambert have Live CD/DVDs coming out this Tuesday. Rolling Stone loved Green Day's and was meh on Adam's; Entertainment Weekly loved Adam's and was meh on Green Day's. Whatever... I'm looking forward to them both.
Seriously, MTV?
Mar. 15th, 2011 02:39 amSo, MTV does this annual March Madness thing like the NCAA basketball tourney where they have brackets and bands duel it out to the championship. The first round match-up in the West?
So.....That happened...
Nov. 20th, 2010 02:53 pmAdam was in Amsterdam tonight.
He did Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" for an encore. And let's just say he was feeling both of them. In very literal fashions.
Go to 2:50 to see what I mean about the first song. Then go to 8:00 to see what I mean about the second.
And by the way, this is Mary's ghost making this entry, because I am actually dead. I mean that. Adam Lambert has finally killed me.
I guess this qualifies...
Nov. 3rd, 2010 01:06 pmas a multi-fandom post.
I honestly don't recall if I've seen this before, but it's too adorable not to post. How does he look EXACTLY THE SAME 25 years later?????
This is especially for
mikeyface; I swear I've seen it all now! Bob Bryer/Adam Lambert crossover fic: http://carleton97.dreamwidth.org/239848.html
Adam's reaction:
(LMAO, first time I've used an MCR tag.)
FOAD Scalpers...
Oct. 27th, 2010 08:55 amIt's 8:30 AM and I've been up all night and I would really like to go to bed, but I can't. I'm staying up to play another round of the wicked game I call TicketBastard Roulette.
Way back in the early spring Adam Lambert hinted that he might do "a handful" of concert dates. He started touring in June, and by the time it's all done, that handful will have turned into something like 115 dates in the US, Canada, Asia and Europe. As we Left Coasters were hoping, he'll be closing the books on the GlamNation Tour in his home town of Los Angeles in December. The final date is 16 Dec at Club Nokia, and I was able to get a ticket through a pre-sale. Two days ago, he added the penultimate date on the 15th at the Music Box (formerly The Henry Fonda) Theatre. WHICH SEATS 1300 PEOPLE.
So here I am, waiting for 10AM to roll around, so I can hit Enter furiously and fight with 30 letter captchas, only to get the message "There are no tickets available at this time." Because I know that's gonna happen. Tomorrow is the GoldenVoice pre-sale, and Friday is the General Sale, so I get to play the Lotto three times, but I'm not optimistic.
Except that I guess I am. Because I bought my plane ticket ($140 RT! WHOO!) and have made arrangements for a hotel room for both nights, so...I guess I'm going. Someone, somewhere will have an extra ticket, right? And prices usually drop precipitously on the scalper sites the last day or two, so, I guess I'm figuring that Ra will provide.
Or maybe pigs will fly and I'll get a ticket an hour from now.
From last night in Hawaii:
ETA: YES! I ACTUALLY GOT A TICKET! *falls into bed*
METALLICA??? ILHSFM
Oct. 17th, 2010 02:25 pmOMG, Adam covered Metallica last night in New Zealand!
It was Tommy Joe Ratliff's birthday, and "Enter Sandman" is his favorite song. Heeheehee
ETA: Audio from a different vid with better quality: http://www.mediafire.com/?9yw2cfp63fowhah
So, I've tried to be good and not spam you too much with gifs of Adam snogging Tommy every. single. night. because we all know how horribly boring it can be to watch uber hot guys macking on each other night after night...(oh...wait...)
But last night was the last US date of Adam's GlamNation tour, in Puyallup, Washington. In fitting fashion, Adam capped off his 72 date, 98% sold out tour with a performance to between 8 and 10 thousand people, and instead of a kiss, we got this:
It's like, pr0n, honest to god. And I can't stop looking at it. (For reference, the one on the right is the ~straight one. ;-) )
They leave tonight for Singapore, for the first of 31 international dates all over Europe and Asia. I sure hope they have some good video ninjas over there!
Aug. 18th, 2010 11:41 pmWell, everyday is turning into twice a week, but hey, that's still an improvement, right?
Been so busy, but did catch Rob Thomas at the Mountain Winery a few nights ago. It's an amphitheater set literally in the middle of a vineyard at the top of a mountain overlooking the Santa Clara Valley. Even Rob said it was the nicest place he'd ever played a show. It was an acoustic show, very low-key, about 1200 in attendance. Very suited to showcasing Rob as a singer-songwriter, which he totally is, despite that whole Matchbox-20 thing. :-) He's also pretty funny and charming with his long involved song intros. He did mostly his solo stuff, with one or two MB20 things (Bent, Unwell). They did one of those things where they were selling soundboard recordings of the show on little USB wristbands. Unfortunately they were $40 -- I probably would have gotten one if they were $20. The whole thing gave me a hankering to see MB20. He did say that they would be working on a new record soon, which made a huge chunk of the audience very happy.
I'm way behind on answering comments, but I'll get to them all, I promise!
Latest "how Adam Lambert continues to fuck with fan-girls heads'" chapter:
ADAM: Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Tommy Joe. He's the bass player.
Do you like him?
And you want to know something funny? He likes girls!
TOMMY: *giant O-face of surprise and shock*
ADAM: Sorry about that. *exaggerated shrug*....*voice turns soft and seductive*...but also, he likes this.
Then he puts his hand on Tommy's neck and proceeds to have a minute long make-out session with him, causing Tommy's knees to buckle.
Oh boys!
