Twiddle my thumbs just for a bit...
Apr. 15th, 2007 11:55 pmOooh! What's that? A post? From revid? Wow, what's next? A Green Day CD?
Yeah, and I can't even claim to have been really busy or anything. As a matter of fact, it's been just the opposite. I've had a bunch of days off (part-time work rocks, lemme tell you!), and my life has been rather, how shall I say it?, BORING. But as I was saying to
and_ed, I like boring!
I've been catching up on my reading, mostly my magazines, but also a few books. I went to the library (yay for libraries!) and checked out a couple, most notably Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. This was recommended to me by
feels_like_fire (the poster formerly known as koneko41) after I asked her what the big deal was about this guy I had never heard of that so many 20-somethings with LJs are enthralled by. Only about 40 pages into it so far, but it's pretty funny, actually. Also read Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris, who wrote another most interesting book called The End of Faith. He makes very simple and cogent arguments for the non-existence of God. Very persuasive. Lastly, I just finished Fatal Depth: Deep Sea Diving, China Fever, and the Wreck of the Andrea Doria, about scuba diving on the Andrea Doria, a passenger ship that sank in 1956 off the coast of NY/NJ. It's in 250 feet of water, which makes it an advanced and potentially dangerous dive. I'll never do it, but I like reading about it.
Speaking of diving, I signed up for another trip. It's like crack cocaine, I tell you! It's on The Archipelago Advenurer II, a nine day charter in the Banda Sea of Indonesia. My dive buddy Wendy tells me this area has one of the highest concentrations of sea life species in the world. It's about a year from now, March of 2008. So you know what this means, don't you? Green Day had better not release that fucking CD until next spring either!
A guy at work heard me listening to AFI and asked if they had replaced Green Day for me.
Uh...no.
Much as I love my glitter princess, that will never come to pass.
On the self improvement front, I've gotten serious about running again. It's been on and off for about two years, but a few months ago, spurred on by another one of those birthdays, I decided to make more of an effort. So as incentive, I've signed up for a local 10K race next month. There will be about 300 or so other runners, which is big enough to ensure that I won't DFL (Dead Fucking Last) the race. If I finish in less than an hour, I'll be pleased. I've got the TiVo set for the Boston Marathon tomorrow morning, so I can see what real suffering is like.
So that's me. Three minutes of your life you'll never get back. Maybe next time I'll just post a meme or something.

Ugh! Running...sorry man, never been able to dig it. Bike riding or a brisk walk perhaps, but running has never had much appeal for me. Good on you though for being so ambitious.
*ponders* Have you changed your journal layout again or has it been so long since I've trapesed around in here I've forgotten the "remodel"? :D
