I download so much Green Day stuff that I occasionally forget what I have. Case in point: I downloaded an audio bootleg of a show at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Ho hum...another AI bootleg. Except not. The date of this show is 16 September 2004, five days before the release of American Idiot. It is a recording of the very first time that they performed the whole CD from front to back. Billie's voice sounds very fresh, and he makes a few interesting comments, but what I like most about it is hearing the band sing the songs without the audience singing along...because they have never heard the songs before! The Henry Fonda only holds 1300 people...man, what an experience that would have been. So, anyway, I have it in HQ flac format (uploaded on gDLo by 2Pasalaqua), but I noticed that someone converted it to mp3 and posted it over on GDC. Here's the link: Green Day Live at the Henry Fonda Theatre 16 Sept 2004 (74 MB) Give it a listen.

I don't expect anyone to trip over themselves thanking me for this one. *GRIN* It's a Japanese girl pop band called Puffy AmiYumi doing a cover of Basketcase. Thanks to dvde (of gDLo) for converting it to mp3 and uploading it. Puffy AmiYumi Basketcase Detroit, MI 18 July 2006 (3 MB)

They sell ringtones over on greenday.com. This is not exactly breaking news, but I wandered over there to listen to the samples. Did you know there are a few with voice clips of the boys? Well some I could figure out, but some I'm not so sure. Mom in Paradise and Responsibility are most definitely Mike. Kidnapper Warning and Come Around Doobievoice sound like Tré to me. Brain Rub voice, I have no idea, and Special Longview Voice might be Billie. Anyone want to take a listen and weigh in with your thoughts? It's here.

I am so happy to be meeting my flist one by one! So far I've met [livejournal.com profile] _somniac_, [livejournal.com profile] luthien123, [livejournal.com profile] leighrowena, and [livejournal.com profile] huhamacedonka, next month I meet [livejournal.com profile] koneko41, today we started solidifying plans for [livejournal.com profile] tasyfa's visit in October, and it looks like [livejournal.com profile] angie_aiken and [livejournal.com profile] the_fink will be coming out in January. I'm sure it's me, and not the fact that I live a few hours from one of the best cities in the world to visit, as well as the home of a certain rock band who shall remain nameless.

ETA more randomness: So I backed up my iTunes Library to DVD, and here's what the different disks contain: Disk 1: "Weird Al" Yankovic to Elton John.; Disk 2: Elton John to Marilyn Manson; Disk 3: Marilyn Manson to U2; Disk 4: U2 to Young MC. I laughed at how strange that sounds.

I hope you all have a great week.

I hear you...thinking of all the missed opportunities living here in California (not the least of which was the Warfield show) can make me almost physically ill. Sigh.

You will love the show.
