I download so much Green Day stuff that I occasionally forget what I have. Case in point: I downloaded an audio bootleg of a show at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Ho hum...another AI bootleg. Except not. The date of this show is 16 September 2004, five days before the release of American Idiot. It is a recording of the very first time that they performed the whole CD from front to back. Billie's voice sounds very fresh, and he makes a few interesting comments, but what I like most about it is hearing the band sing the songs without the audience singing along...because they have never heard the songs before! The Henry Fonda only holds 1300 people...man, what an experience that would have been. So, anyway, I have it in HQ flac format (uploaded on gDLo by 2Pasalaqua), but I noticed that someone converted it to mp3 and posted it over on GDC. Here's the link: Green Day Live at the Henry Fonda Theatre 16 Sept 2004 (74 MB) Give it a listen.

I don't expect anyone to trip over themselves thanking me for this one. *GRIN* It's a Japanese girl pop band called Puffy AmiYumi doing a cover of Basketcase. Thanks to dvde (of gDLo) for converting it to mp3 and uploading it. Puffy AmiYumi Basketcase Detroit, MI 18 July 2006 (3 MB)

They sell ringtones over on greenday.com. This is not exactly breaking news, but I wandered over there to listen to the samples. Did you know there are a few with voice clips of the boys? Well some I could figure out, but some I'm not so sure. Mom in Paradise and Responsibility are most definitely Mike. Kidnapper Warning and Come Around Doobievoice sound like Tré to me. Brain Rub voice, I have no idea, and Special Longview Voice might be Billie. Anyone want to take a listen and weigh in with your thoughts? It's here.

I am so happy to be meeting my flist one by one! So far I've met [livejournal.com profile] _somniac_, [livejournal.com profile] luthien123, [livejournal.com profile] leighrowena, and [livejournal.com profile] huhamacedonka, next month I meet [livejournal.com profile] koneko41, today we started solidifying plans for [livejournal.com profile] tasyfa's visit in October, and it looks like [livejournal.com profile] angie_aiken and [livejournal.com profile] the_fink will be coming out in January. I'm sure it's me, and not the fact that I live a few hours from one of the best cities in the world to visit, as well as the home of a certain rock band who shall remain nameless.

ETA more randomness: So I backed up my iTunes Library to DVD, and here's what the different disks contain: Disk 1: "Weird Al" Yankovic to Elton John.; Disk 2: Elton John to Marilyn Manson; Disk 3: Marilyn Manson to U2; Disk 4: U2 to Young MC. I laughed at how strange that sounds.

I hope you all have a great week.

*hugs* Awww, Mary! I'd come visit you if you lived next to a corn field in the middle of Nebraska!! ♥ And I love the GD ringtones :) I have a few of them downloaded to my phone!

Oh and thanks for the clips, doll!! *smooches*

Oooh....that bootleg is quite a find. I'm downloading as I type. Thank you for sharing.

You'll have to add [livejournal.com profile] and_ed and myself to your 'future visitors' list. One of these days we'll get up there and you're definitely on our 'must see' list. ;)

Yeah, what's that about?! You're in the same state even! You're on the list. :-)

And that Henry Fonda show is priceless...it's so weird to hear the opening to BOBD and not hear mad excited screaming.

Eeee! Thanks for the downloads! The J-pop cover of Basketcase isn't all that bad considering.

OMG. I am so glad nobody else is at home right now because those voice clips had me rolling around and laughing like a lunatic. I feel like they are the best thing ever! My cat came to yell at me for my behavior. I think you're right on who everybody is, Special Longview is definitely Billie doing his gay lisp and then going into his "dirty boy" voice at the end. Rowr.

And aw to the meeting of LJ friends! I'm tellin' ya, someday we'll get this whole crazy flist together at one time. And THAT'S when some serious good times will roll. ;)

OK, and I have to come back here to tell you that I just started listening to the bootleg, and there are some fabulously delicious sounds that our Billie makes during this concert. Case in point? During AI he totally groans after the "Gimme some of that!" request he makes of someone. (And is it Tre? Because he follows it up with, "Ladies and gentlemen, Tre Cool on the drums." And if it IS Tre, what does Billie want? Water? Beer? Sweet, sweet lovin'?) And there are a few moans in JoS, too. I haven't listened to the whole show yet, but those parts alone are worth the download.

Have I spammed you enough, my love? More thanks for the download, because I'm totally going to listen to it all night for more random, spontaneous groans. And you are the download queen. ;)

You are so right! BOBD just finished and I have to say that had to have been the best live performance of it I've ever heard and I think it's because it's only the guys and not the audience singing along. Blew me the fuck away, man.

I am sooo loving this. Thank you again.

Wasn't that guh-inducing? Man. In my mind it was Tre he was making the request of....and I'm thinking it's sweet lovin'. Definitely. *nods*

I think I'm glad I *wasn't* still living in Toronto just pre-AI because one of the other dry run concerts they did was there, at the Phoenix which holds I believe 1,000 people. And if I'd been there, not yet a fan, and knew now that I could have gone? Ohhhhhh man that would suck. It sucks enough knowing I lived five minutes from the location of the Mississauga spelling interview LOL! Thanks for the bootleg - from the other comments, I can't wait to listen to it!

And I can't wait to meet you too! I am beyond excited about this trip. :D

Yeah...it's pretty neat to hear him introduce JoS, St. Jimmy and Whatshername. And hearing only the band sing is cool beyond words.

HAHHAHA---I glad you agree with me on the ringtone...Mike was so obvious, but the others were not so clear...I love Mike yelling "Answer the fucking phone!"

You are so welcome! I'm glad I could help spawn such sweet thoughts.

He never introduces Mike or the rest of the band. HMMMMMMMMMM.

I hear you...thinking of all the missed opportunities living here in California (not the least of which was the Warfield show) can make me almost physically ill. Sigh.

You will love the show.

I suppose it's a good thing my cell phone provider doesn't support these ringtones. I can just see myself out in public when one of those ringtones came on. And Mikes right too! I never can find my phone! *giggles*
