QaF Convention: Paris

So my pretend boyfriend's pretend boyfriend, the gorgeous and talented (and v. v. gay) Randy Harrison actually did appear as planned at a QaF/The L Word convention last weekend in Paris, much to the amazement of the fandom, who were sure that it was some kind of Halloween joke, or a zombie who had taken over his body.

And more to everyone's surprise, he seemed to actually enjoy himself there, instead of nervously glancing at the exits every 2 minutes.


I don't get exactly why, but some of the audience performed the dance to "The Bad Touch" with Randy as their captive audience:

My favorite quote, of course, was in reference to Gale.

Was it difficult to do a sex scene with a straight actor?
"No. It would have been difficult with a bad actor."

He didn't say anything publicly about Gale, but a fan asked him and he said he was going to be fine. However it was also clear that it was a topic that he didn't wish to speak about, so it might have been a stock answer. But I'll take it. Since he's now at home, we're unlikely to get any information at all about his condition. Sigh.

I can't help thinking he looks mortified and embarrassed in that video, poor guy. He also looks very thin.

Re: Gale. I'm sure we will find out something from the DH people, unless they are planning a hiatus and have no need to update. All we can do is keep him in our prayers and hope that someone connected with him will be generous enough to think about his fans and supporters and how worried we all are.

He was a pretty good sport about the whole thing. He looked rather embarrassed when they started saying his name at the end.

There was a picture from BTF a couple years ago where he looked like an absolute skeleton, so this isn't too bad. I understand he's just tiny in person.

I agree with you that the next thing we hear will be an announcement from DH that he either is or is not returning to the show. I hope for the former, but the latter is a possibility too.

*smooches* Aww, well I try to stay positive as much as I can :) Even though I know it doesn't necessarily help anything, but I suppose neither does freaking out, lol. (Though where my own boys are concerned, I do plenty of that sometimes :p )

He definitely seems happier and more himself than he's been in a long time. I think, to a certain degree, time has worked its magic on Randy, enabling him to view his QAF years more objectively, instead of emotionally.

I completely agree with you. The memories of some of the unpleasant parts of the S4 & S5 have probably started to fade a bit and I imagine that some of the more obsessive fans that made him uncomfortable have moved on.

( I friended your personal and your writing LJ, because I'm always on the prowl for good fic, especially RPS. :-) )
