It's my LJ, I'll wank if I want to...
Oct. 27th, 2008 03:25 amI feel incredibly out of sync with my new fandom. When I was all "Woe Is Me, Gale will never get better," it seems like everyone else was "Oh yay, those vague comments sounds great."
Now I'm finally convinced that he is really, actually, truly improving, and half the posters are "I don't trust this, I don't believe this, it's not from the hospital."
Well, if I were prone to wank-generation, I would tell them to Google HIPPA to discover why the hospital won't be giving out any information on Gale's condition. And bitching about his publicist? Guess what folks, they release what he gives them permission to.
And the woman who has been kind enough to pass along some emails to Desperate Housewives staff about Gale's condition, which honest to god was the only info we got for days? That apparently isn't good enough for some people either. One person claimed it must be a hoax because a TV producer would never talk like that. WTF? Another example: One email mentioned Gale's parents (who are divorced and live east of the Mississippi) will be visiting this weekend. Some people actually claimed that this proved the emails were false because there's no way his parents would have waited until now to visit him. Wow...Holy Jump to Conclusions Batman! I can't even start with all the logical fallacies inherent in that one statement. They want a personally addressed telegram?
My favorite posters are the ones who feel the need to chide every other poster for speculation, then proceed to pull the same out of their own asses.
I guess the point of this rant is that Wank is to Fandom, as Death & Taxes are to Life.
And this is what happens when I feel the urge to post to LJ at 3:30 in the morning.
I am thankful that Gale is improving... my speculation is that he was closer to death than we'll ever be aware. There's my contribution to stirring the pot. :-/

I believe that each and every one of us is grateful and thankful that Gale is improving. I love him very much, and it is frightening to think about not having him be a part of my life.
Thought for the day: Speculation is all you have when you don't have facts.
Edit: I thought this might not be clear. What i mean is, that we had no facts or information, so all we could do is speculate. It really isn't a bad thing.

At least now if we go three days without new information, I don't feel like I'm getting an ulcer. I still have my concerns about anyone who has to spend 9 days in an ICU because of a head injury, but I'll take the good news gladly!

If Brandi had written to them, they would have ripped her to shreds. It does have a saving grace though, in Duc Debrabant.
