A big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] beatupcar for scanning and posting two Kerrang! articles from yesteryear a few days ago.

I read Tré's quote about blink-182 ages ago, and ever since then I've been trying to locate where it was from. It's priceless. Mike gets in a pretty good dig too. (I can hear [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire squee.)

(As a Green Day fan, I love how far up Green Day's butt that magazine always is. If I were a Green Day hater, I'd be annoyed as shit at it.)

I just refreshed my friends page hoping there would be a diversion - work is pissing me off at the moment - and you come through, Mary. Good timing.

I had not read through those scans yet and though I'd heard of those type of comments, I'd never seen them. *giggles* Have I mentioned I LOVE Tre? ;)

And Mike...good one, dude. And yes, as I read that, I heard in my head a Kat-squee at the mention of Alkaline Trio. =)

I giggle also at your current song...is that a popular tune in your line of work? *snert*

Ha! I hadn't even thought about it. That's Matthew Good's latest CD (rather morbidly named because of where he spent a lot of time after a recent suicide attempt.) Since I'm going to see him next week (YAY!) I'm getting more familiar with it.

I recall telling you about that quote, but not being able to locate it, so I was rather pleased to see it again.

Is your glee at Kerrang! being so far up Green Day's butt why you entitled the post 'Poop Disaster 2002'? *snickers* I remember reading that bit from Tré too, though I do not remember Mike's much more succinct dig. It seems that Alk3 and GD have a mutual appreciation society going. :D

(Yaaaaaay Matt Good!)

I missed that connection completely. It came from a little promo video clip showing both bands sitting together (looking rather uncomfortable, I might add) talking about the upcoming tour, and one of the GD boys referred to it as such.

Aw, cool. I've never seen that so I made the other connection, lol.

And I did not know that you were going to see Mr. Good next week! Lucky girl. Hope you enjoy it!

(LJ sent me this comment notif, but nothing for in my own journal... oy.)

Helen (who else?) posted a link about Matt's upcoming Canadian tour, which I followed and discovered much to my glee that he's doing a solo acoustic tour in the US RIGHT NOW! I had despaired of ever seeing him in the US, but he's in SF on the 9th and LA on the 11th. I'm going to the LA show with my two friends who are also (randomly enough) Matthew Good fans. I am so looking forward to it!

It's from when Blink and Green Day were interviewed on TRL together right before the Pop Disaster tour. I think Mike was the one that referred to it as "Poop Disaster" and then clarified, "It's missing the other O". Hahaha.

Hee, Ian Winwood (that thar interviewer) is quite the legendary journalist, I rather adore him. He hearts Green Day, and he quite hearts Metallica too.

Trivia: a few years ago he kicked off a war of words with Nickelback, instigated by Ian calling Chad Kroeger a cunt. Nickelback sent him several bunches of flowers, Ian reiterated the fact he thought Chad was a cunt, and for a while there was talk of a charity boxing match to sort it all out.

Poor Nickelback...never has a Canadian band taken so much shit since...Rush.

And since one random Nickelback reference deserves another, this is a MySpace blog entry from a woman who posts on GDA about her encounter with Chad as a waitress in a Denney's.

That's what they get for originally calling themselves the Village Idiots. :P Cute story in the blog, though. I confess to liking some of their music. :) I'd sure as hell rather listen to Nickelback than Rush!!!

You're welcome. I love reading old interviews where they aren't so tight lipped about giving their real opinions

Seriously. Although at this point I'd settle for ANY interview.

That would be the sound of my heart exploding with love for Mike Dirnt, because he managed to be his somewhat horribly insulting self and proclaiming his respect for Alkaline Trio.

I am so glad you found this! I was having such a bad day and it's wonderful to come home to my Alk3 and my Mike.

YAY! Glad I could bring that little ray o' sunshine into the cold Idaho winter!

I am so totally hoping for a Green Day-Alkaline Trio-The Living End tour line-up. Although I might die of happiness before I actually got to see them.

...and my Mike.
Dude, we're sharing, remember?

For all that they do truely believe in the "we just want to be the best band we can be" kinda stuff, it is always nice to see the guys a bit fired up and ready to reclaim what is theirs. Good for them :) And they couldn't have done it to a jerkier band. Never really been a big Blink fan, particularly that Tom Delonge nitwit.

I read this the other day when she posted it! That was great, love seeing the guys being real!

Yeah. It doesn't surprise me a bit that it was Tré who came out to say what they were all thinking!

...particularly that Tom Delonge nitwit.

That's Thomas Delonge, now. That's how he introduced himself at the KROQ show last December. Sounds like he's always been a pretentious little twat.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. OH MIKE, NEVER EVER CHANGE. And hahahaha, we can ALWAYS count on Tre to be a complete asswipe on record! Gotta love him. ♥ I LIKE Blink and this cracked me up. Mmmmm. I second the Alkaline Trio/Green Day/Living End goodness. IF ONLY, MARY. IF ONLY.
