From an Amnesty International website:

"We wanted to do "Working Class Hero" because its themes of alienation, class, and social status really resonated with us. It's such a raw, aggressive song, just that line: "you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see", we felt we could really sink our teeth into it. I hope we've done him justice. "

--- Green Day singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong

You can also buy the single there in WMA, mp3, or AAC format, for people having trouble with iTunes.

No worries there. It's beautiful. And so good that they included John at the end.

That was a really neat touch. I wonder whose idea that was.

I kind of wonder if it was because they weren't entirely comfortable putting themselves forward as the 'hero to follow,' Billie perhaps in particular. Which thought kind of tickles the bunnies, lol.

I'm so glad they're offering the song there, so that non-iTunes folks can get it. And love Billie's comment. =)
