Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. No money is being made, and nothing is implied about any real person.

A/N: I've had AFI on the brain since I saw them two weeks ago, so this seemed like a good excuse to get it out. This takes place the second week of June 2006, right after Decemberunderground debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 Chart.

Yanked along by his dog, Billie Joe struggled down the block, barely managing to avoid his neighbor's car pulling into the driveway.

"Dude," Billie yelled as Davey exited his car. "Number one! Number fucking one!" He bounded over to squish his pal in a bear hug. "I'd buy champagne, if you did that shit!"

Davey pulled back to read one pair of unlined eyes with another--What were those odds?--hands still on Billie's hips. Billie leaned forward and flicked his tongue gently against his friend's lip ring.

"You could congratulate me some other way," Davey murmured.

I was gonna use my GLEE icon, but really, how many posts are there where the pretty one with the lip ring is actually topical?? :D

Nonetheless, *glee*! I love how natural it all seems - just a day, just neighbours, just normal driving/dog-walking/cosmetics-free activities except it's special for a reason that one's experienced a couple of times now and the other is doing so for the very first time. Mmm, implications. :D

Thanks Tas. Part of the challenge of writing a good drabble is to make the characters identifiable, so you couldn't just insert two random names.

I'm not a big fan of the lip rings...I wince when I think of the things that could go wrong.

I'm more or less neutral. They work well for some people, and I do like the little tug in the icon, but not on my mouth, man. lol. 'Course, that's also b/c my body doesn't much appreciate any kind of piercing; I've got just the two original holes left in my ears. The other ones I had to let grow over (as much as they actually do, anyway). They were just a continual problem.
