The Wall Street Journal Online posted an article about fan fiction a few days ago, which I thought was interesting. (It includes a brief mention of that unusual sub-genre known as slash, as well.)

Rewriting the Rules of Fiction

Slash? You mean, people write that stuff? Oh, right. We do. :p You always find the most interesting things. :)

That is immensely thought-provoking. Also true; there are a lot of editors and other industry professionals who read fanfic and often may have written it once themselves. But it's interesting to know that from industry people, and then turn around and see that it's something that the rest of the world is becoming aware of. Very cool.

Thanks, Mary!
