She's alive!

Hi flisties! Sorry I've been MIA again. Bunch of stupid stuff going on.

This is the first time I've been A) Unemployed and B) Not In School since June 1981. Twenty-seven years! Getting laid off from a job you've had for 9 years in not my idea of fun. However, as hoped, I have a new job starting in October. It's still a commute, but it will be a good temporary position while I get my act together preparing to move to the glorious city of San Francisco, probably next year sometime.

Finally, the work on my deck is starting tomorrow. And I'm getting an estimate for painting the trim. Oh, the joys of owning a home.

I've also got a bright, shiny, glittery new fandom to explore in Queer As Folk, with dozens of comms, hundreds of fics and thousands of pictures to review, taking up my free time. I can't believe that I've actually set my TiVo to record Desperate Housewives just to see Gale Harold.

How badly does it suck that in less than 2 weeks it will be four years since Green Day last released an album? (That would be a rhetorical question, flisties.)

I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but I still find this interesting. JK Rowling won her lawsuit against a "lexicon" publisher. foresthouse (who is an attorney) is explaining it in English in her LJ. (Be sure to read the footnotes!)
