~Tonight is the last performance of the America Idiot musical at the Berkeley Rep Theatre. The lovely J'net from GDC flew out here for it, so feels_like_fire and I met up with her and had brunch at Rudy's. Kat got a ticket from a broker (all sold out, 'natch) for the 2:00pm matinee, and J'net had a ticket for the final evening performance. However, Kat being the enterprising young thing that she is, earlier this evening she texted me to tell me that she had somehow finagled a ticket to the closing performance as well, and, oh, yeah, I just said hi to Mike. Bitch.

So yeah, the whole band is there. I'm sure there will be epic stories. And it's a definite go for Broadway, so all you east coasters will get your chance to see it. You don't have to be a Green Day fan AT ALL to enjoy the show.

~It's so much fun to have a library card again. Just finished reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. It is an analysis of the different things that go in to making highly successful people. (That makes it sound like a boring business school book--it's not, it's fascinating! For example, one chapter explains the cultural reasons why Asians tend to be good at mathematics, and another explains why the vast majority of star Canadian hockey players are born in Jan., Feb., and Mar.) The interesting thing is the interplay between hard work and plain lucky circumstance. If you liked his other books (The Tipping Point and Blink) or Freakonomics, you'll enjoy this.

I was just gonna say, "You drove to SF last night?" until I remember, duh, you're now a SF resident. :-p

I'm bummed I never got the chance to see the musical but I will continue to live vicariously through those of you who have.

Oh and Green Day is playing Paris June 26th 2010 and my bday is the 27th. I was thinking about buying a ticket. Would you like to join? :p
