American Idol Squee...

Through the miracle of the internet, I found a nice live feed of American Idol so I didn't have to wait three more hours to see it. YAY. So I don't spoil anyone on the west coast, my thoughts are under the cut.



As someone on TWoP joked "Tonight's theme is 'Songs.'" It would be nice if AI would shell out the bucks to get some songs from this decade for crying out loud.

The judges split 5/4 tonight. They trashed Anoop, Megan (God, she sucks hairy moose balls!), Allison, Matt and Lil to varying degrees, but all pretty harshly. Even Paula now says critical things. Kris and Danny got tongue baths, Adam and Scott got merely solid praise.

I'm also really getting pissed at the Paula and Simon comedy show...they spend more time fucking with each other then critiquing the contestants. Dudes, the show is not about you, believe it or not! We don't give a shit, it's not entertaining at all.

ETA: I was incredibly offended by Ryan's interaction with Lil's kids. I did not find it funny or cute or amusing. They are far too young to be in on a "joke" like that. Horrible.

I've never been so scared for a contestant as I was for Adam. About an hour before the show, I heard he was doing "Play That Funky Music" from 1976. HELLO, junior year of high school! I had no idea how he would pull it off. And yet...it was kind of fun. And Simon didn't hate it. I'm feeling mixed-- he did a great job with it, but there were ten million other songs he could have done that would have been so much better. He also needs to learn a little restraint. Just because you can hit those high notes EVERY TIME, doesn't mean you should. I continue to hate the Elvis hair; he needs to go back to the emoboi look. He is still an incredibly polite and classy guy, thanking the band during the judges critique. Overall, my lurve for him remains undiminished.

Kris was just great. I think Simon has realized that even though they didn't want Kris in the finals to begin with, he has turned out to be a real contender.

Megan could not carry a tune in a bucket. Even Simon is regretting that he let his dick decide to put her in the competition. And that tattoo sleeve? Fugly.

Danny doesn't wow me, but he finally gave a performance that did not annoy me. I'm even feeling a little sorry for him because he spent several days out of LA because his grandfather died this week. Since they didn't mention it, it appears they learned their lesson from the Dead Wife backlash.

I was disappointed in Allison's performance of "Don't Speak." She should have hit a home run with it; instead it was just a ground rule double.

And so my NaLiJoWriMo experiment comes to an end. I missed 6 days out of 31, so I give myself a B+. But at least it got me in the habit of posting again, so it's all good. I will henceforth spam your friends page once or twice a week as usual.

I thought Adam was great but he could do without so many loud thingys that he does. Its a bit over the top and unnecessary at times. I heard last weeks was great, I havent seen it yet due to the fact that last Wed when it was on, I was wasted out of my mind in hollywood getting kicked out of some HLAHG movie. ♥

True about Adam. But he is so fabulously Over The Top -- he reminds me of Robert Plant when he does that. How could I not love him?

I watched your b/f tonight! He was really good, but I wasn't even sure if it was him at first. He wasn't wearing make up, so I had to do a double-take. Still, what a hottie! :) And I thought it was good. I mean, it had the potential to go so very wrong, (in reference to his song choice) but I enjoyed it :D

The story is that he found out ON MONDAY that he was unable to do his first choice song due to clearance issues -- hence the shout out to the band, I think.

My least favorite of all his performances for sure, but I can't think of anyone else who could have carried it out without me throwing things at the TV!

See, I thought Anoop was awful. Seriously blow chunks all over the stage awful. So for me the bottom should be him, Megan - always awful, and *yawn* Scott. But honestly, anyone besides Adam and Kris could be in the bottom three this week and it wouldn't surprise me. Anoop and Megan were awful, Scott was boring and the rest were just...okay. I think it SHOULD be Megan to go home...but I'd be satisfied if it was Scott, too. Anoop doesn't really annoy me or anything, I just thought he sucked, so he can stay another week. I'm sure he's thrilled he has my permission. =)

Matt needs to bring it next week, man. Cause I really like him.

And your boy...well, we already hashed that out. Hate the hair. Scary song choice, but he pulled it off. And yes, he's still coming across as professional, genuine and classy...thanking the band was very nice. Good boy. Now back to the rocker dude hair next week, mkay?

I'm goona throw a fit and cry if I don't get my emo haircut and guyliner back next week. The theme is songs for the year you were born. Adam was born in 1982, so there are SHITLOADS of great rock songs he could KILL on.

Enjoyed this, Mary! I'm definitely on the Adam Bandwagon as well. This performance didn't wow me, but with anyone else, it would have been horrible. Not diggin' the Elvis hair either. One thing about all these changes - he is very savvy to working the audience. I think he captured a lot of fans who don't like the emo-boy thing with his look and performance last week (Smokey Robinson). Which I did see taped after the fact since I was in LA watching Beth get kicked out of HLAHG (thankfully, only temporarily) while it was going on. We missed you!

I think Scott needs to go, he's totally getting the pity vote at this point. I hate the way he looks singing. I have a soft spot in my heart for Anoop. Allison is good, but god is she annoying! Kris pleased me this week, before that I was just Eh about him. I also think Lil Rounds is a little overrated.
