Bits and Pieces
Nov. 17th, 2008 10:30 pmSo what's up with me, you might ask?
Or maybe not. But hey, feel free to skip.
I went up to San Francisco last weekend to look at homes. It was a pretty fruitful experience actually. I saw one or two homes that I could picture making offers on even. I feel comfortable with the agent I'm working with, which helps. (It was also nice to see Kat for about 30 seconds! ;-) )
Of course, buying a house in SF is wholly predicated on selling my current home. And it looks like it will be going up on the market this weekend. Which now has the crap scared out of me, to be frank. Some of it is related to time constraints, and some of it is related to the OMGWhatamIdoing seller's remorse type feelings. But really, I've been thinking about this for almost a year now, and none of the reasons that I want to move have changed. I love this house, but I need a change bad, and I just don't see it happening if I stay here. Some of the trepidation is also related to the general angst/trauma that's involved in moving, too. Moving sucks, folks. I am sooooo not looking forward to it.
The pleasant news (and the reason for my reference to time constraints) is that I'm leaving on Saturday for a week of scubadiving in Cozumel, Mexico. I'm going with a group of eight, one of whom has been to Coz something like 30+ times, so we'll be hitting all the good diving and eating spots, I'm sure. My RE agent thinks it's a great idea to have the home available over the holiday week for viewing to vacationers looking for a second home by the beach, so I have to get it ready to go before I leave! ARGH. So down comes the Green Day shrine on the fridge.
Speaking of Green Day....THERE'S NEWS! REAL, HONEST TO GOODNESS GREEN DAY NEWS! My God, what will we do? As I'm sure most of you have heard, The 9 December issue of AP will have an interview with GD where (theoretically) they will be talking about the new album due next year. Good God guys, four and a half years! Good thing you didn't rush into anything! But I promise, make it good and I will forgive you, OK? I've missed you.
The last thing that's been on my mind is not quite as good news. It appears that Gale Harold is being written out of Desperate Housewives due to the injuries he received in his motorcycle accident over a month ago. Last night's episode was his last, and of course, he was absolutely gorgeous and adorable. But they had to use a double for one scene (with his face conveniently not shown), which fooled exactly no one. I suppose it's theoretically possible that they could write him back in next season -- given Susan's unstable love life, it's not completely out of character -- but that may be wishful thinking. As I've opined here before, the real question is whether Gale's head injury is so serious that he'll be able to resume acting at all. The one positive piece of information that we received is that he was able to be discharged to home, rather than a TBI (traumatic brain injury) rehab center. However, I believe this will probably be the last thing we hear for a very long time. As dedicated as his fans are, Gale is hardly an A-lister, so no one else really cares, and Gale has never ever been terribly interested in publicity. Sigh.
Hope everyone is having a good week. Time for me to get back to getting the house in shape!

Ooh, and happy house hunting! I really hope it all works out for you :) :) Change can be really good, right? :)
But oh man. :( I'm so sorry to hear about Gale being written out of DH. That just fucking sucks. :/
I'll round this comment out with some GREEN DAY SQUEEE because Jesus of Fucking Suburbia it's about time!!! :D

Date: 2008-11-18 08:49 pm (UTC)Its exciting to be going ahead with the house sale/purchase...though I know just how stressful that is. Anytime you wanna email/text/call to vent, you know where to find me, right? =)
Yay for the GD. But that goes without saying. ;)
And really yay for Cozumel. That's awesome. And on a related note, when are you and your buds coming back up here to dive again?
I'm sorry about Gale. I guess that was to be expected, his being written out of DH, but it still sucks and sucks even more that you'll probably be news-less for a while. All we can do is continue to wish him well and cross our fingers, I guess. =(

Date: 2008-11-18 11:49 pm (UTC)Have tons of fun on your trip! Can't wait to see your pics again!
When Jackson got out of the nightclub I assumed he was gonna be ok and stay on the show.I will miss him on the show, but I really hope he is going to be ok. Luckily they can always write him back in. Keep me posted if you hear anymore.

Date: 2008-11-19 12:17 am (UTC)I'm not going to make it up to Quadra this February. I've just got too much on my plate at the moment -- see above! I just wish I had an idea how long it will take to sell the house. Even my agent, who has 20+ years of experience in this area isn't sure. I could come home to 2 offers, or it could be 4 months. *tears hair out*

Date: 2008-11-19 12:25 am (UTC)The scene outside the club was filmed before his accident. (It's actually likely that he was injured the night that scene was filmed.) They are going to have Susan and Jackson break-up. That might leave the door open for a return in the future if he gets well enough. But sadly, it's all speculation on my part.

Date: 2008-11-19 01:28 am (UTC)Firstly, my honest condolences on your imaginary boyfriend. It really sucks to think that after all the worrying and hoping that he'd make it out of the hospital etc. that now he's going to be even further gone from your reach, so to speak. I guess it's understandable that he has more on his plate personally to worry about than acting, but I know how it feels to miss someone (even imaginary someones!) when you've gotten used to having them around. Hope he pops up again soon on another awesome show for you to lust after.
Scuba trip sounds awesome as always - have a blast and make sure you do one of your awesome posts with pics of cool sea creatures that I'd never know existed otherwise.
And the house thing - yuck. I have decided after we moved in to our current place that I will never move again, so I know how not looking forward to the whole thing you are. And I hope, with the whole economy/real estate market crap right now that it goes well for you. I can't wait for you to get to SF permanently, just because I would love to be there and can't, so my friends should get to enjoy it I guess!
Also, totally thought of you just 2 nights ago as I watched Bugs Bunny and Tweety with the kidlet, as Bugs was relaxing on Pismo Beach :) Totally freaked me out, seeing as how it meant nothing to me as a kid the first time around!

Date: 2008-11-19 04:42 am (UTC)Ha! I said I'd never move again either, but look what happened. :-)
You know, I'd never heard about Bugs Bunny and PB until I moved here and people kept mentioning it to me!

Date: 2008-11-19 07:02 am (UTC)Oh My Goat! You do have just a few thangs to think about, don't ya?
I don't envy you at all in regards to the home sale and all that which it entails, but very excited about your prospects and reasons for the move. I'm also very excited about your trip and *like everyone else* looking forward to the recap and pics.
As for Gale...wow. Very sad. Here's hoping all turns out well for him. Gorgeous pic of him btw... but you already knew that ;]
{hugs}
And finally...be still my heart. Can't hardly wait to get my grubby paws on a copy of the 'zine. I've already been checking to see where all in town I might find a copy once it hits the shelves.

Enjoy Mexico! XOXOXOXO

Date: 2008-11-19 06:35 pm (UTC)It'll be nice to see you and play catch up and introduce you to Ryan but he's so busy at work lately that I only see him about twice a week at this point. I'll bring it up later today if he would be interested in tagging along. He's the manager so he can give himself a day off. :-p
