Gale Update

Note to my flist: I'm probably going to be posting my musings about Gale and his condition a lot. It helps me in a weird kind of way. Please don't feel like you have to read or comment.

So I've been pretty unhappy about the fact that it's been a week since Gale's motorcycle accident, and several days since he's been transferred to Cedars-Sinai and we've still not heard anything at all. That bodes very, very poorly to me. Then today, James Denton, who plays Teri Hatcher's ex-husband on Desperate Housewives was interviewed on a radio show and said this when asked about Gale:

Gale Harold. ... He's doing okay. It's a slow process, it was pretty serious but he's slowly coming along and we're real happy about that.

Color me un-reassured. That sounds like an overly measured response to me. Nothing about him being alert, nothing about him talking. There were reports of that earlier, but now I'm wondering about their veracity. A lot of folks are taking this as positive news, but I'm not so sure. If we hear that he's being written out of DH, then we're really going to know.

I did my residency with a guy who works in the ER at C-S. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to contact him out of the blue after 10 years. Plus, it's against the law for him to say anything, and C-S fires people who talk about celebrity patients.

Fuck.

I have to agree, that doesn't sound overly reassuring, but I'm gonna keep thinking positive thoughts. *hugs*

Agreed. It's all so ... fishy, for lack of a better word. I just hope that there isn't something they're not telling us. Obviously that's a very real possibility, but I'm just going to hope that maybe their lack of information is only out of respect for Gale's privacy, and so as not to dwell on the situation.

I guess now we play the wait game, but at least we've got each other. ♥ You know how deep my love for this man runs, but I also respect him, and admire him. I just want him to be okay, and I want it to be the future already. You know, where we look back on this and laugh. :)

Thank you for the constant updates, even when there aren't any. But you know the old saying: "no news, is good news." Maybe there's some truth to that. :)

Thanks Angie. It just seems so...circumscribed. Check out the home page of Scott Lowell's site: http://www.scottlowell.com Could he be any less informative? I mean, Gale is a very private kind of guy, but arrrrgh. We're getting these overly vague statements, whereas it seems to me, if he were really doing well, they'd be saying things like "I talked to him today and he's being a pain in the ass to the nurses." The truth is he was probably intubated, on a vent and in a barbiturate coma for the first couple days. So the less they say, the more worried I get. Not that my feelings are the slightest bit relevent, but I am not encouraged.

Weeeeeeeeeeell..we didn't go to Vegas, because of the car. I'm gonna try and do a post later, but the car got fixed, thank god, on Monday. But yeah, no Killers. Which, you know, I was only going along for the road trip and the fun, but I felt bad for Deb and Leann having to miss it. On the good side, the car was a cheap fix so that was a huge relief.

I'm having a great time, though. Hanging out with Leann all day while Deb's at work - yesterday we went into Hollywood, tomorrow we're going to San Diego. And tonight Deb and I are going to some huge...I dunno what you call it, a collectible and card and comic venue of some kind, so's I can buy more SPN cards because I'm a geek like that. =)

Well, just got a little update from a woman whose Dad works on DH. No details, but once again, I think in this case, no news is bad news. Not a single person has said they've spoken to Gale. Not one. That leads me to believe he may still be on a ventilator in a drug induced coma...the standard treatment for this injury. This many days out, that means he's probably been been trached...meaning had a surgical incision at the base of his neck for the breathing tube.

Thanks for listening to me. On all the QaF comms I'd get flamed for saying this stuff...everyone is still being very Pollyanna-ish about it all.
