Hi LJ, I've missed you.

** I just finished working 75 hours of night shifts in an eight day period and I'm pretty much brain dead. I got home this AM fully intending to just take a little nap, instead I slapped the alarm off and slept all day. So I guess I'm going to be up all night again. Sigh.

**The content of this article from The Advocate is old news, but I was rather amused by one line in it (emphasis mine):

Although currently married to a woman, Armstrong came out as bisexual in a 1995 interview with The Advocate.

Does anyone else think that sounds almost condescending? Billie Joe and Adrienne's 13th wedding anniversary is 2 July. Congratulations, my friends.

**Finally hoping to get a chance to read Tas's latest kinky porn tonite! Like, sit down and read the whole "Transferal" arc sequentially. I just finished re-reading the whole Billie/Mike Establishment arc from start to finish too. I'm very pleased that I've gotten [livejournal.com profile] my_own_beat_now hooked, and I'm working on [livejournal.com profile] oh_johnny_. Now, if I can only get [livejournal.com profile] angie_aiken to read it, my life will be complete. ;-)

**PSA to any self-employed folks: Quarterly tax payments are due to the IRS tomorrow. BOO.

**My dad wants to stay at my house for a couple days next month, while I'll be in Fiji. In spite of my advanced age, I still feel like I have to make my house parent safe. This means removing the AA battery appliance from the night stand, putting the RockFic anthology books in the back of the bookshelf and hiding the hard copy of a WIP featuring things my father would probably rather not know I enjoy reading about. I already have a guest account set up on the old computer, so I'll be logging off mine with all its secrets, and logging on to that before I leave the house too. The Green Day calendar and the framed 8x10s of Mike & me, and Billie Joe & Angie are staying though. :-)

**Really nice Billie/Mike fic on [livejournal.com profile] comingclean: Extending Downward
Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and [livejournal.com profile] tasyfa for pointing it out.

**There's your daily dose of random. Was it good for you too?

I find that The Advocate article condescending as hell too. It makes me think the author is one of those bigots who thinks bisexuality isn't real. There's also a certain implied value judgment of their relationship that pissed me off.

You're not the only one who finds that article condescending, no. It's the "currently" that does it, as if he's having some sort of momentary lapse in judgement as opposed to, you know, falling in love and building a future with someone.

I just reread the Transferal arc. As good as each part is by itself, the whole thing together is stunning.

And you'll be pleased to know that I'm sleep-depped today because of the Est fic.

I have that same nightmare! Minus the floaty fuschia thing. *shudders with you*

Oh, and much icon love there. That's awesome. =)

I've missed you, too!

The vision of you hiding any and all porn related goodies from your dad makes me giggle.

Fic-wise, I need to go read that whole thing of Tas. I did quickly read that Extending Downward rec yesterday though I need to go back and comment. That was a nice surprise to see new, GOOD, GD fic.

I hope you had a good night - wish I could have been on line to keep you company. Hopefully we can hook up next week sometime for a chat. I'm really hoping my life gets a little more settled now that the kid's dance is over. *crosses fingers*

It is condescending, but I mostly always just thought it was wishful thinking on the journalist's part. Haha! It's cute to realize that he was just getting married at the time of that article and now they've been married for 13 years and are raising two boys; they've made it through thick and thin.

Similar to [livejournal.com profile] sylvee, my biggest fear is dying suddenly and having my family go through my things, including *certain things* I wouldn't want them to find/know about. Worst nightmare, seriously. I also do the "parent-proofing" thing in my apartment when my parents vist.

And thanks for the porn rec! :D

Ooohhh...I hadn't heard you mention Fiji before - diving I assume? Wow - what a totally exotic and great vacation that will be. Hopefully (I'm sure!!) there'll be lots of pics to see when you return. How long are you gone for?

That's so nice that your dad wants to house-sit for you. I have this mental picture of you stuffing all sorts of crazy porny stuff in a little metal safe and slamming the door shut with a crazy "HA HA!" cackle!

As to the ^^article, meh...stupid journalists. I pretty much agree with everything commented above. And wow - 13 years now? Lucky them - such a nice story in the celeb world.

Oh yes, it was lovely. You know I love the random! :D

That line just stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

It makes me think the author is one of those bigots who thinks bisexuality isn't real.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that angle.

You know, I recently spoke with a friend of a friend who firmly believes that bisexuality is not real.

That's kind of ridiculous.

The vibrator was the first thing I thought of my I realized my dad would be using my bedroom. :-)

You know, I think you hit upon it. It's the word "currently" that makes that sentance vaguely offensive. Like 13 years and 2 kids is just a passing phase.

I think we all have variations of that nightmare!

Sorry to hear of your loss of sleep...NOT. *evil laugh*

Thank god for old fic archives.

We are always children in some ways where our parents are concerned. Can't avoid it.

It was a long night. I even went running at 3 AM --on the treadmill of course. I only took a 3 hour nap today so my sleep schedule will be forced into normalization. I'm glad to hear things asr doen from a boil to a simmer for you.

My thought was "So dude, how long have you been with your boyfriend?" 'Cause I bet it's not 13 years.

You're welcome...it's nice to find something new on CC.

Right you are. I'll be off diving in Fiji for 3 weeks...leaving on the 26th of this month and returning on the 16th of next. There will be pics...whether they'll be any good is another question.

You know, a safe wouldn't be a bad idea. :-)

I remember your story about leaving your fic hard copy with your mom's mail! Yowza! An experience I'm hoping to avoid.

And I thought of you as I was typing the line about randomness.

Okay, whatever I was about to say has just completely dissolved from my mind as I drool shamelessly (and consider hijacking) your icon.

MARY HAS A PETE WENTZ ICON? My life is fucking complete. :)

*cackles* Ohhhhh but it is an excellent reason for it, truly. :D Yay Mary the Pimp!

Everything's been said about the article. Dimwit "reporter." *sigh*

(Also, thanks. It's kind of meant to all go together - at least the last few bits - but I knocked off more prompts this way. ;-) )

and I've read the whole mike/billie est thing several times, in fact first thing i went to on my return from vacation because something got me thinking about them while I was away, and I needed a fix upon my return.

jealous of your upcoming trip!

Usually, I end up reading my favorite Est logs over and over, so it was really fun to start from the beginning and read every one in sequence. I never get tired of them.

This trip has been in the works for over a year, so I'm very excited.
