The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came out today with their list of what they consider the 200 definitive albums of all times. I have 32 of them, which isn't bad, I think. (And by have, I mean the physical vinyl LP or CD, not just mp3 downloads. :-) )

The Definitive 200

To save y'all the trouble of looking, the boys came in at number 50 with Dookie and number 61 with American Idiot.

There are a few that I find surprising (Norah Jones? Really?), but I can see most of the selections, even ones that I'm not particularly fond of.

If you click on the contest link in the upper right, you can enter to win all 200. I figured it was worth giving them an email address for the chance.

Oh, cool! I shall go check out the list. I doubt MCR is on there though. *sigh* One day the world will know how awesome they are. BUT. GD. :) I had no doubt our boys would make the list at least a couple of times. :)

Avril? Really? Ugh. There is not enough good Canadian content on there. :/ But maybe I just get ticked off when MGB and Sloan only get acknowledged in purely Canadian lists, LOL.

Fascinating list. There were a few that had me arching the ol' eyebrow at for simple inclusion, nevermind placement. Thanks for the link and pointing out about the contest. :)

And just for the record, I have 27.

Interesting list. A few on there that had me going wtf? but as you say, most make sense. Pretty tough comparing albums from the 60's to more recent stuff...I mean, you can THINK they're going to have staying power, still be classics 30 years from now, but its still a lot of very subjective guesswork. And comparing someone like Andrea Bocelli to Metallica for placement? I wonder what criteria they used.

I should go back and count how many I have...I'm thinking probably a dozen or so...but the boy probably has twice that.

Anyway...very interesting. Thanks for sharing. =)

That was about the kind of selection I'd expect for a list like that...I have 39!

Some of them were cool, Green Day obviously. Guns and roses, stone temple pilots, Metallica- all great choices.

But 50 Cent? seriously? I swear that's a poor joke.

I've got 42 of them, but I think that's mostly because of all the soundtracks they included, which is a total cop out if you ask me. Like, the Forrest Gump soundtrack? Why, because you couldn't pick albums from each of those artists?

Shame, Hall of Fame. :p
