PSA for anyone that has their IM address in their profile:
There is a web bot that is trolling LJ for IM screen names in the profile. You will receive a random ping from a name you don't recognize with the following message:
your friends only posts have been stolen: h t t p://****.on.nimp.org/?u=bantown
Where the **** will be your LJ user name.
Do not click on it. It is a malicious JavaScript that hijacks your browser and tries to open as many windows as possible with pornography, usually locking up your computer. It may also try to open your email client and play "I'm looking at gay porn" through your speakers.
Yes, I clicked, but fortunately I'm on a Mac, so it only crashed my browser, not the computer. I also missed out on the email and audio fun, and I got 50 blank windows without the porn, but talk about annoying.
This LJ user suggests changing the format of your AIM ID in the profile; I simply added "ID=" in front of my name, which will confuse a bot, but not a person.
I can't believe people actually get their jollies doing shit like this.
