A/N: I've had AFI on the brain since I saw them two weeks ago, so this seemed like a good excuse to get it out. This takes place the second week of June 2006, right after Decemberunderground debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 Chart.

For the fic challenge to celebrate the 1,039th member of comingclean, with the prompt of 'congratulations'.

Yanked along by his dog, Billie Joe struggled down the block, barely managing to avoid his neighbor's car pulling into the driveway.

"Dude," Billie yelled as Davey exited his car. "Number one! Number fucking one!" He bounded over to squish his pal in a bear hug. "I'd buy champagne, if you did that shit!"

Davey pulled back to read one pair of unlined eyes with another--What were those odds?--hands still on Billie's hips. Billie leaned forward and flicked his tongue gently against his friend's lip ring.

"You could congratulate me some other way," Davey murmured.

An update!

No, I'm not dead either. I just have worked a crapload in the last week and I've been sick with the creeping crud at the same time. Not a good combo. I ended up sleeping 12 hours last night, so that helped a little. I have been trying to read everyone's journals, even though I haven't been commenting much.

I did somehow find the energy to whip something up for looking_spiffy's fic challenge celebrating the 1,039th member of comingclean. C'mon folks, join in the fun!

Happy news: I'm definitely headed across the pond this August. Reading 2007, here I come! The line up gets announced this Monday. I was able to get a ticket on FF miles, which is great, since tix from LAX -> LHR are running about $1100. The plan is to spend the weekend rocking out to 100 bands non-stop, then spend a week hanging around London playing tourist. undone0705 is my intrepid buddy; who else wants to join us?

Tomorrow (um...today?) is tax day for me. I must get it done. I must get it done. I must get it done. *sucks*
