This Is Our Lives On Holiday...

Well, I'm leaving on my long-awaited vacation to indulge in my second biggest obsession: scuba diving. I'll be gone for 14 days. I fly to Costa Rica, starting my journey 3 AM tomorrow, spend a night in San Jose (CR, not CA!), spend two days at the Arenal Volcano, then board the 110' Okeanos Aggressor on 4 July for a 36 hour boat ride to Cocos Island, the largest uninhabited island in the world. I'll spend 7 days diving there, looking for hammerheads, mantas, turtles, and whale sharks with 21 friends from my other favorite internet community--about half of whom I've already met and dived with in real life. (People may talk about the evils of the internet, but my life has been unimaginably enriched by its existence.) Another 350 mile trip back to the mainland, one more night in San Jose, then home to two very pissed-off felines and an overwhelmingly long friends page on the 15th.

I may pop up in the next few days, since the hotel in San Jose is supposed to have wireless internet. On the boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? Nope.

It will be a blast, but I'll miss you guys something fierce! I expect you to take note of fics, pics and news I need to know!

And a very happy twelfth wedding anniversary to Billie Joe and Adrienne Nesser Armstrong on July 2nd.

I love volcanos! I got to see the lava flow at Kilauea a couple yrs ago. And big underwater animals make my heart go pitter-patter too. It's going to be fun!
