hai lj hai!
Oct. 7th, 2011 07:03 pmNo matter how far I roam...I will always come back to LJ, and I will always love Green Day.
Just putting that out there.
We're gearing up for another round...secret shows and new songs on the way. I even shelled out the $25 (or whatever...I've already forgotten!) to rejoin the Idiot Club, because, damn, now that I live here, I don't want to miss the next secret shows. C'mon, guys, have one on my day off this time.
So, I'm REALLY excited for this: Billie Joe is going to be in a 2 episode arc on the cable TV show "Nurse Jackie." I saw it on the IC, but Perez Hilton posted about it today. http://perezhilton.com/2011-10-07-billie-joe-armstrong-cast-on-nurse-jackie#.To-goutmtsY
Someone in the comments has some casting information:
[JOHN] (Male, 45) He is a badass, has a tattoo that says 'No Regrets' on his hand, and is a drug user addicted to Oxycontin who meets Jackie one night. He is chasing after the ultimate high. He has kids and a wife who don't talk to him anymore.
Billie's going to hit the big 4-0 in about 4 months, but I'm sure he'll manage to look the part!
Working full time nights is tough on a body, but I'm taking steps to combat it. I signed up for a fitness boot camp starting Monday. Getting started back on the road to fitness is always the hard part, so this should by the kick in the ass I need. Kill me now. /o\
Volunteering for RockMed keeps me busy, but it has its advantages. These are the bands I have seen or will see shortly in a 30 day period:
Don Henley
Jimmy Eat World
Robert Plant
Fitz and the Tantrums
blink-182
My Chemical Romance (Angie, if you're reading this, they were GREAT. Best I've seen them.)
Stevie Nicks
Foster the People
Foo Fighters (More on this to come...)
Neil Young and the Bridge School Benefit
Oh yeah, about the Foo Fighters. I am almost wetting my pants with excitement because the one and only
and_ed is coming down from the great white north to visit MEEEEE and go see the Foos with MEEEEE on October 19th. And of course, we will hit some tourist spots including Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe! And Barb is gonna cook for me. My poor stainless steel appliances won't know what hit them. And she's probably gonna make me watch Hawaii 5-0 while she's here too.
Also, if you like indie pop-rock, may I suggest you check out Foster the People? They are awesome. Someone uploaded their CD on YT if you want to listen: http://youtu.be/Fvq7VMcifKk
In other fandom news, my obsession with Adam Lambert appears to have the staying power of my obsession with Green Day! o_0 It's going on 3 years now. For those of you who don't follow his every tweet with bated breath, his second album will probably be out in Jan or Feb 2012, but he may have a single out as early as next month. (IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME DUDE!) He remains as adorable and presh as usual, especially with his equally adorablehot Finnish twink of a boyfriend. q.v.:
Posting on LJ is just like working out. Getting started is the hardest part, right?

Date: 2011-10-08 03:49 am (UTC)And hey, any word on when we're actually going to get new stuff? And I guess I'm going to have to watch Nurse Jackie, huh? Go Billie Joe, lookit you, all actorly and stuff.
In other news..I cannot wait to get there, man. Foo and you. Its gonna be awesome! And yes, you shall be cooked for and Shaken Jesses shall be consumed and there shall be drinking and merriment. We're gonna pack so much fun into four days! =)
Lots of cool bands there - Rock Med is worth the effort, I'd say. And of course, your boy remains adorable. And finally, YAY FOR POSTING! Do try this again, huh? ;)

That should be my new Lj title. Love it! It's equally true for me too. :)
I've heard about some of GD's secret shows they've put on recently, and it makes me even more bummed that I live on the exact opposite side of the U.S. DAMN. If it weren't for the fact that my mom really needs me here, I would have moved already.
I had no idea Billie was going to be in Nurse Jackie! I don't watch it, but I sure as hell will watch his appearances. Whooooo! (And how is it possible that he's going to be 40? He looks just barely half that.)
I'm glad you enjoyed MCR! I saw them twice on the HCT this year, and they were incredible. I've seen a total of 5 shows from their "Danger Days" tour (2 of which were the Blink/HCT shows) and they were definitely the best I've ever seen them. (I mean all the shows collectively. They were AWESOME!)
I've been out of the Adam Lambert loop lately, but I'm really excited about his new album. YAY! :D

Date: 2011-10-08 12:42 pm (UTC)I don't get Nurse Jackie here, but I'm sure it will all be up on YouTube eventually *g* 40? Really? I still had him pegged at 38. Seems I've missed a couple of years somewhere. I don't get to go to secret shows, but I am going to see The touring company of American Idiot in January. Not Billie, but excellent Green Day nonetheless!
RockMed sounds totally worth it, wow!
Be careful of that H5O stuff - one day you're innocently watching and the next thing you know Tas has talked you into playing Alex O'Loughlin in the Est! *g*
Foster the People are indeed good music.

Date: 2011-10-09 10:14 am (UTC)I thought of you the whole MCR show. Gerard was funny bitching about the fact that Shoreline is a seated venue. They sounded really good. And I got to see Bren briefly too!
COME TO CALIFORNIA!

Date: 2011-10-09 10:25 am (UTC)LOL @ the Est! How many pups do you have now? You reminded me that I haven't been there in a while so I went over. I thoroughly enjoyed your Tommy Joe log with Henry whoever (had to google him!) You should get Barb to play Scotty Caan with you. heeheehee.

Date: 2011-10-09 03:21 pm (UTC)Tommy Joe has enjoyed two Henry's to date - Rollins and Cavill. Rollins was probably a one-off, but he and Cavill might be developing into something.
I have five now! Mark Ballas, Maksim Chmerovskiy, Tommy Joe, Davey Havok (and very much missing having Billie in the Est!), and Alex. Alex is currently working his way through the Est subs and having a grand old time. Hell, he's got subs flying out to Hawaii to scene with him! Barb should absolutely play Scotty, yes!

Date: 2011-10-09 11:23 pm (UTC)It always cracks me up when Gerard bitches about something. :) Both amphitheaters I saw them at are technically seated also, but (for rock shows) they've started removing the first 3 or 4 rows to create a small pit, thankfully. I got a barrier spot right between Mikey and Frank both nights. Best spot in the house!
I miss California so much! I would love to come back asap. ♥
